CC65T White/CC65T Black 6.5˝ Commercial 70V 2-Way In-Ceiling Speakers
Introduction
The CC-T series 70-volt in-ceiling speakers are perfect for commercial applications where you want high-quality sound with the capability to reach loud volumes. These speakers are designed to handle music, PA announcements, chimes, and more. We combined high-quality home theater audio with 70-volt technology, delivering the best of both worlds. With selectable tap wattage from 2.5W to 20W, these speakers are versatile for any commercial setting.
These in-ceiling speakers are precision-tuned for optimal audio at both high and low volumes. For superior musical sound, a 2-way speaker is essential, with a dedicated tweeter for highs and a dedicated woofer for lows. The polypropylene woofer cones produce clear, rich mids and deep bass, while the Mylar dome tweeters provide clean, crisp highs. The included sheer grilles allow flush installation and can be painted to match any decor. High-quality spring-loaded push terminals ensure secure wiring.
Setting the Taps
The tap is the selector knob located at the rear of the CC-T Series speakers. It allows you to set the wattage that the built-in transformer will draw from the amplifier. CC-T Series speakers have taps set at 2.5, 5, 10, 15, and 20 watts for 70-volt input, providing full customization of the sound output based on the needs of each area. For example, in a restaurant setting, you might set dining room speakers at 5 watts, outdoor seating speakers at 10 watts, hallway speakers at 2.5 watts, and bathroom speakers at 5 watts.
A great advantage of 70-volt systems is that you can mix and match various speaker types, such as ceiling speakers (like these), wall-mounted speakers, subwoofers, and more.
Wiring
70-volt speaker setups allow you to run very long lengths of speaker wire without signal loss. Connect all positive terminals of the speakers to the positive 70-volt terminal on the amplifier. The negative terminals of the speakers should connect to the COM (negative) terminals on the amplifier. Impedance is not a concern in 70-volt systems, as the power remains constant.
Ensure that the total wattage of the speakers (number of speakers multiplied by the tap value) does not exceed the output power of your 70V amplifier. For example, with 5 speakers set at 20W each, you’ll need an amplifier with at least 100 watts (5 x 20 = 100W). It’s recommended to select an amplifier with 15-20% more power for optimal performance, so in this case, a 120W amplifier would be ideal.

Installation
Tools Needed:
- Drywall Knife
- Level
- Phillips-Head Screwdriver
- Wire Strippers
- Ladder
1.) Using the included template, cut an opening in the drywall.
Always allow at least ½˝ between a wall stud and the speaker cutout or the locking tabs will not be able to swivel into place.
2.) To remove the grille use the included hook tool. Insert the bent end of the tool into one of the holes in the grill. Gently lift the grill out being careful not to bend it.
3.) Connect the speaker wires (be sure to observe proper polarity), set taps to the desired power setting (see diagram on the facing page), and insert the speaker into the cutout with the locking tabs facing inward (See inset).
4.) Use a Phillips-Head Screwdriver to turn each screw clockwise. This will cause the locking tabs to swivel into position. Continue turning each screw clockwise until you feel resistance, securing the unit to the back surface of the drywall.
5.) Before replacing the grill, attach the provided strips of adhesive to the speaker. They will help to hold the grill in place. Gently push the grill into the corresponding grooves on the speaker face until you feel some resistance.
