Introduction
The Rockville RSG Passive PA Speakers are designed for live performances, band rehearsals, houses of worship, DJ events, karaoke, and more. Available in 8-inch, 10-inch, 12-inch, and 15-inch models in 4-ohm and 8-ohm versions, these speakers deliver powerful and dynamic sound when paired with an amplifier or powered mixer.
This guide will walk you through setting up a basic two-speaker system and daisy-chaining multiple speakers for a larger setup.
What’s Included
- Rockville RSG Passive PA Speaker(s)
- SpeakON or ¼-inch speaker cables (not included)
- Speaker Stand Socket (35mm)
- Built-in Rubber Feet (for tabletop use)
Step 1: Mounting the Speakers on Stands
- Grab a speaker stand and loosen the height adjustment knob.
- Lift the speaker using the side handles.
- Align the stand’s pole with the 35mm socket at the bottom of the speaker.
- Carefully lower the speaker onto the stand and tighten the knob.
- Repeat the process for the second speaker.
If using the RSG speakers as floor monitors, simply lay them on their side.
Step 2: Connecting the Speakers to a Powered Mixer
Since the RSG speakers are passive, you must use a powered mixer or amplifier to drive them.
Using SpeakON Cables:
- Plug one end of the SpeakON cable into the SpeakON input on the back of the speaker.
- Take the other end and connect it to the left or right SpeakON output on your powered mixer.
- Repeat for the second speaker.
Using ¼-inch Cables (Alternative Setup):
- Plug one end of the ¼-inch cable into the ¼-inch input on the back of the speaker.
- Take the other end and connect it to the left or right ¼-inch output on your powered mixer.
Step 3: Powering Up and Adjusting the Mixer
- Turn on the powered mixer.
- Raise the Main Left and Right faders to hear sound from both speakers.
- If using Bluetooth or an external audio source, raise the volume on the corresponding channel.
- Play audio and adjust EQ settings for optimal sound.
Step 4: Daisy-Chaining Additional Speakers
If you need more coverage or louder output, you can daisy-chain additional RSG speakers.
Daisy-Chaining with ¼-inch Cables:
- Ensure all speakers are 8-ohm versions to prevent impedance issues.
- Take a ¼-inch cable and connect it from the ¼-inch output of the first speaker.
- Plug the other end into the ¼-inch input of the second speaker.
- Repeat for additional speakers (up to two per channel).
Important: When daisy-chaining, the impedance is cut in half. Two 8-ohm speakers per channel result in a 4-ohm final impedance, which most powered mixers and amplifiers can handle.
Conclusion
The Rockville RSG Passive PA Speakers provide versatile setup options for various applications. Whether you're setting up a simple two-speaker system or a large multi-speaker rig, they offer clear and powerful audio with easy connectivity.
