SPYDER LED: How To Set Up Master / Slave Mode

If you want to control multiple Spider LED Moving Headlights without a DMX controller, you can use the Master-Slave function. This allows one light to act as the master, controlling all the other lights in the chain. This is a great way to synchronize lighting effects across multiple fixtures.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to set up the Master-Slave mode so that all your lights work in unison.

Step 1: Connect Your Lights with a DMX Cable

1. Choose Your Master Light – This light will control all the others.
2. Take a DMX Cable (included with your light) and plug the male end into the DMX OUT port on the master light.
3. Connect the other end of the DMX cable into the DMX IN port of the first slave light.
4. Repeat this process for additional lights by connecting the DMX OUT from one slave light to the DMX IN of the next.

Tip: The last light in the chain does not need an additional DMX cable.

Step 2: Configure the Master and Slave Lights

On the Master Light:

1. Press the "Menu" button to navigate to the Master-Slave mode.
2. Press "Enter" and use the Up/Down buttons to select Master Mode.
3. Press "Enter" again to confirm.

On the Slave Light(s):

1. Press the "Menu" button to navigate to the Master-Slave mode.
2. Press "Enter" and use the Up/Down buttons to select Slave Mode.
3. Press "Enter" to confirm.

Step 3: Choose a Mode on the Master Light

Now that the lights are linked, any setting you apply to the master light will be mirrored by all slave lights.

You can set the master light to:

• Auto Mode – Lights follow a built-in program.
• Sound Mode – Lights react to sound.
• Strobe Mode – Lights flash at high speed.
• Custom Colors – Select a specific color or pattern.

Tip: If you use Sound Mode, all the slave lights will react to sound along with the master light.

Step 4: Test the Setup

1. Play music or clap your hands (if using Sound Mode).
2. Observe how the master light changes, and the slave lights follow.
3. If the slave lights are not syncing, double-check:
   • All DMX cables are properly connected.
   • Each light is set to the correct mode (Master or Slave).
