Introduction
In this guide, we’ll walk you through the setup of your Rockville RWB Speaker Series. Whether you have the swivel version or the fixed position version, the installation process is the same. These speakers come in black or white and can be mounted on bars ranging from 1.26 inches to 2.87 inches wide, making them perfect for boats, Jeeps, UTVs, and more.
What’s in the Box?
- Rockville RWB Speakers
- Mounting brackets
- 65mm and 80mm bolts (for different bar sizes)
- Rubber inserts (for securing the brackets)
- Safety cable (to prevent accidental falls)
Step 1: Preparing the Mounting Brackets
- Remove the long bolts and nuts that hold the bracket together.
- If you're installing RWB70 or RWB90 speakers, remove the rubber insert to reveal the center bolt.
- Use a large Allen key to loosen the center bolt if you want to adjust the speaker’s position.
- The bracket can swivel 360° – adjust it to your preferred angle.
- Once positioned correctly, tighten the center bolt to lock it in place.
Step 2: Mounting the Speakers on a Bar
- Line up the speaker with your desired mounting position on the bar.
- Ensure the rubber inserts are attached inside the bracket to prevent movement.
- Position the top bracket piece over the speaker and align it with the bottom bracket.
- Insert the bolts through the bracket holes and attach the nuts at the bottom.
- Use the nut grooves on the bracket to hold the nuts in place while tightening the bolts.
- Repeat this process for the second speaker.
For RWB65 and RWB80 speakers, the bracket is removed from the back of the speaker instead of the side, but the mounting process remains the same.
Step 3: Attaching the Safety Cable
To ensure your speakers stay secure:
- Wrap the safety cable around the mounting bar.
- Clip the ends of the cable together.
- This will keep the speaker attached to the bar even if it comes loose from the bracket.
Step 4: Wiring the Speakers to an Amplifier
- Take a speaker wire and connect the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals on the speaker.
- Run the other end of the wire to an available channel on your amplifier or head unit speaker outputs.
- Repeat this process for the second speaker, using separate channels on your amplifier.
Parallel Wiring for 2-Ohm Stable Amps
- If you're using a 2-ohm stable amplifier, you can connect two speakers per channel through parallel wiring.
- This involves daisy-chaining speakers by connecting:
- The positive terminal of one speaker to the positive terminal of the next speaker.
- The negative terminal of one speaker to the negative terminal of the next speaker.
- The final connection runs back to the amplifier’s channel.
Step 5: Testing the Speakers
- Power on your amplifier and ensure it’s set to the correct input mode.
- If using Bluetooth, pair your phone or music device with the amp.
- Play some music to test the sound.
- Adjust EQ settings on your amplifier for optimal bass, mids, and highs.
Conclusion
Installing your Rockville RWB Speaker Series is quick and simple. Whether you’re mounting them on a boat, Jeep, or UTV, these speakers deliver great sound and can be positioned exactly how you want them.
