GB1: How To Set Up & Use

Introduction

The Rockville GB1 is an all-in-one portable PA system that includes speakers, stands, a mixer, a microphone, and all necessary cables. This guide will walk you through assembling, connecting, and using the system for live performances, karaoke, or general PA applications.

Step-by-Step Setup

1. Unpacking the System

1. Unlock the latches on both the front and back of the case.
2. Remove the speakers from the top of the case.
3. Take out the speaker stands by undoing the Velcro straps inside the case.
4. Retrieve the included cables and microphone from their compartments.

2. Setting Up the Speaker Stands

1. Loosen the bottom knob on each stand to expand the legs.
2. Adjust the width of the legs for stability and tighten the bottom knob.
3. Loosen the top knob and extend the stand to your preferred height.
4. Insert the locking pin into one of the height adjustment holes.
5. Tighten the top knob to secure the height.

3. Mounting the Speakers

1. Locate the smaller pole mount on the bottom of each speaker.
2. Align it with the top of the stand and slide the speaker on securely.
3. Repeat for the second speaker.

4. Connecting the Speakers to the Mixer

1. Take the two 1/4" speaker cables.
2. Plug one end into the 1/4" input on the back of each speaker.
3. Plug the other end into the left and right speaker outputs on the top of the mixer.

5. Powering the System

1. Plug the IEC end of the power cable into the power socket on the mixer.
2. Plug the other end into a power outlet or power strip.
3. Turn on the power switch on the mixer.

Using the Mixer

6. Connecting a Microphone

1. Take the included microphone and XLR cable.
2. Plug the female end of the XLR cable into the microphone.
3. Plug the other end into one of the mic inputs (e.g., Channel 1).
4. Adjust the microphone volume:
   • Raise the gain fader on Channel 1.
   • Raise the main left and right faders to allow sound output.

7. Connecting an Instrument (Guitar or Keyboard)

• For a Guitar:
  1. Use a 1/4" instrument cable.
  2. Plug one end into your guitar and the other into a line input on the mixer (e.g., Channel 1).
  3. Adjust the gain and faders for volume control.
• For a Keyboard:

• Use two 1/4" cables for stereo sound and connect to Channels 4 & 5.
• If using mono output, plug into one channel instead.

8. Adjusting the Sound with EQ

• Each channel has a high and low EQ knob:
  • High knob: Controls treble (clarity & presence).
  • Low knob: Adjusts bass (depth & body).
• Adjust the left and right faders to balance overall volume.

Adding Effects (Reverb & Echo)

1. Select an effect using the Digital Processor:
   • Numbers = Reverb Effects
   • Letters = Echo Effects
2. Raise the Reverb knob on the channel where you want effects.
3. Speak or play an instrument to hear the effect.

Playing Music via Bluetooth

1. Press the Mode button until the display shows Bluetooth Mode.
2. Go to Bluetooth settings on your phone or tablet.
3. Select "Rockville" from the device list and connect.
4. Play music through YouTube, Spotify, or other apps.
5. Adjust Bluetooth volume using the mixer’s USB volume knob.

Using RCA and USB Playback

• RCA Inputs: Connect external devices like MP3 players, CD players, or amplifiers.
• USB & SD Card Slots: Play music from a USB flash drive or SD card.
