Introduction
The Rockville RVLS60 Lighting Stand is a portable and adjustable tripod stand designed to support various stage lights. This guide will walk you through the setup, mounting lights, height adjustments, and breakdown process.
Step 1: Unpacking the Stand
Everything you need comes in the included travel bag. Inside, you'll find:
T-Bar (for mounting lights)
Tripod Stand
Mounting Hardware (bolts, washers, and wing nuts)
Step 2: Setting Up the Tripod Base
- Loosen the knob at the base of the stand.
- Spread out the legs by either pulling them outward or pressing down on the base while holding the pole.
- Adjust the spread of the legs based on stability needs.
- Tighten the knob back up to lock the legs in place.
Step 3: Adjusting the Stand Height
The stand has two adjustable poles:
- Top Pole: Adjust this first before the middle pole.
- Middle Pole: Can be extended after the top pole is fully secured.
Adjusting the Top Pole
- Loosen the top knob and extend the pole until you see the third hole.
- Insert the safety pin into this hole to lock it in place.
- Lower the pole slightly so the pin catches, then tighten the knob.
Adjusting the Middle Pole
- Extend the top pole fully until the fifth hole appears.
- Insert the safety pin into the fifth hole, lower slightly, and tighten the knob.
- Now, loosen the middle knob and raise the middle pole to the desired height.
- Secure the middle pole using the safety pin and knob.
You can adjust the height further anytime by following the same process.
Step 4: Attaching the T-Bar
- Loosen the knob on the bottom of the T-Bar.
- Align the hole on the T-Bar with the top of the stand.
- Slide the T-Bar onto the top pole.
- Tighten the knob to secure it.
Step 5: Mounting Lights
There are two ways to mount lights:
- Using Bracketed PAR Lights
- Using Wedge Lights Without Brackets
Attaching PAR Lights
- Remove the wing nut and one washer from a mounting bolt.
- Insert the bolt (with one washer still attached) through a hole on the T-Bar.
- Place the second washer on the bracket of the light to prevent scratching.
- Slide the light’s bracket onto the bolt and secure it with the wing nut.
- Repeat for additional PAR lights.
Attaching Wedge Lights
- Remove the wing nut (it won’t be needed for this setup).
- Remove one washer and insert the bolt through the T-Bar.
- Place the second washer on the bottom side of the bolt.
- Align the wedge light’s screw hole with the bolt and secure the light by screwing it in.
- Use a wrench if needed to tighten the bolt while securing the light.
You can attach up to four lights using these methods.
Step 6: Making Final Adjustments
- Ensure all lights are securely mounted.
- Adjust the height if necessary.
- Tighten all knobs and safety pins for maximum stability.
How to Break Down the Stand
Follow these steps in reverse order for quick and easy breakdown:
- Lower the stand height by loosening the knobs and removing the safety pins.
- Remove all mounted lights, storing the hardware to prevent losing it.
- Detach the T-Bar by loosening the knob and sliding it off.
- Fold in the tripod legs by loosening the base knob and pushing the legs inward.
- Pack everything into the travel bag:
- Use the built-in divider (stand on one side, T-Bar on the other).
- Store the hardware inside the bag for safekeeping.
Conclusion
The Rockville RVLS60 Lighting Stand is sturdy, portable, and easy to set up. Whether you're setting up for a gig, party, or event, this stand makes mounting and adjusting lights simple.
