Introduction:
This guide will walk you through the process of setting up your Rockville LEAF SPINNER Light, including how to mount it, connect power and DMX cables, and configure it with a DMX controller or in Master/Slave Mode. Whether you’re setting up a single light or linking multiple lights, this article provides easy-to-follow steps to ensure a smooth setup.
Requirements:
- Rockville Leaf Spinner Light
- PowerCon Cable (included)
- DMX Cable (included)
- Lighting Clamps and Brackets (included, optional for mounting)
- DMX Controller (optional for advanced control)
- Additional Leaf Spinner Lights (optional for Master/Slave setup)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
A.) Attaching the Brackets (Optional)
- Flip the light over to access the bottom.
- Align the golden rods at the ends of the brackets with the holes on the bottom of the light.
- Place the bracket over the opening and ensure it is flush.
- Twist the wings of the bracket to lock it in place. You should hear a click when it’s secure.
B.) Mounting the Light (Optional)
- Attach the lighting clamp to the bracket:
- Remove the bolt from the clamp.
- Insert the bolt through the bracket’s hole and align it with the clamp’s threading.
- Secure the clamp by screwing the bolt in place.
- To mount the light, loosen the butterfly screws on the clamp, align the clamp with the truss or fixture, and tighten the screws to secure the light in place.
C.) Connecting Power
- Take the blue end of your PowerCon cable and connect it to the Power In socket (blue).
- Make sure the grooves on the cable line up with the grooves on the socket.
- Once the cable is in place, twist the cable to the right (so that it clicks in place) to secure it. This ensures the connection is locked and can not be yanked out.
- Plug the other end of the PowerCon cable into a power source to turn the light on.
D.) Powering On the Light
- Press and hold the power button on the light to turn it on. The LED display will show the initial mode.
E.) Daisy-Chaining Lights (Optional)
- If you want to provide power to additional lights, use the Power Out socket (white) and a PowerCon Linking cable.
- Plug the white end of the PowerCon Linking cable into the Power Out socket (white) on the current light.
- Connect the blue end to the Power In socket (blue) on the next light in the chain.
- This allows you to power multiple lights through one AC power source.
F.) Setting Up DMX (Optional)
DMX In and Out:
- Connect the DMX Out from your DMX controller to the DMX In on the light using the included DMX cable.
- You can also connect multiple lights in a DMX chain. Plug the DMX Out from the first light into the DMX In of the next light in the chain.
Setting the DMX Address:
- Press the Menu button to cycle through the available modes.
- Navigate to the DMX Address display. You should see Addr on the display.
- Press Enter to access the settings.
- Use the up and down buttons to set the DMX address on all the lights.
- Set the address to the same value if you want all lights to respond simultaneously to the same commands from the DMX controller.
- To be controlled independently the lights would need to be set to different addresses. DMX controllers will require you to use specific addresses corresponding to different scanners or fixtures (groups of the same light that can be controlled together).
- Consult the support material available for your DMX controller to determine the correct DMX address to set your lights to.
G.) Configuring the Light Modes
- Static Color Mode:

- Press Enter to select your desired channel mode.
J.) Master/Slave Setup (Optional)
- To link multiple lights in Master/Slave mode:
- Connect a DMX cable from the DMX Out on the Master light to the DMX In on the Slave light.
- Connect a DMX cable from the DMX Out on the first Slave light to the DMX In on the next Slave light.
- Set the Master light to Static Color, Position, Strobe or Auto Mode
- Go to the DMX Address Mode on each Slave light.
- Set each Slave light to DMX Address 001.
- The Slave lights will now follow the Master light’s settings and DMX control.
Troubleshooting:
Q: My light isn’t powering on.
- Check that the PowerCon cable is securely plugged into both the light and the power source.
Q: The light isn’t responding to the DMX controller.
- Ensure the DMX address is correctly set and that the DMX cables are properly connected.
- Confirm that the light is set to the correct DMX Channel Mode (15, 20, or 26 channels).
Q: The light isn’t rotating properly.
- If using a DMX controller: Make sure the rotation fader is properly identified and adjusted on your DMX controller.
- If using built-in controls: Make sure you navigate to Position Mode; pressing enter when you see PSet on the display. You should then be able to adjust the light’s position (tilt and pan) using the up and down arrows.
Q: I can’t get the strobe effect to work.
- If using a DMX controller: Check the strobe fader on the DMX controller to ensure it’s set to the desired level.
- If using built-in controls: Make sure you navigate to Strobe Mode; pressing enter when you see Stre on the display. You should then be able to increase and decrease the strobe speed using the up and down arrows.
Conclusion:
You have now successfully set up your Rockville LEAF SPINNER Light! Whether you’re using it for stage effects or a light show, you can now customize your setup with DMX control or use the built-in modes.
