Attention

Most boats run on two batteries, each 12 volts, combined in series to provide 24 volts of power. In the diagram below, the battery on the left is the ENGINE BATTERY. Its positive lead goes to the engine and its negative lead is tied to the positive lead of the HOUSE BATTERY on the right. The HOUSE BATTERY’S negative terminal provides the common ground for the boat’s electrical system. The RGHR48A runs on 12 volts. Hence, for trouble-free performance, connect the BLACK GROUND WIRE and the YELLOW POWER WIRE of the RGHR48A to the corresponding terminals on the HOUSE BATTERY only. If the BLACK GROUND WIRE does not reach the battery, it can be connected elsewhere, but it may cause intermittent issues. The safest bet is to connect the ground wire directly to the negative (black) terminal of the HOUSE BATTERY. Be sure to connect the RED (ACC) WIRE from the harness to the vessels ignition. This will allow the RGHR48A to power on when the vessel starts up.

Dim/Illumination Wire

Connect the orange Dim/Illumination wire to the power wires for any of the vessel’s navigation lights. Now, when the lights are turned on, the unit’s LCD screen will dim. This will eliminate any sort of strong glare that can affect your vision when navigating at night or in low light situations.

Functions

Receiver:

  1. PREVIOUS/NEXT: Press the corresponding button to select the previous or next track (BT/ USB only), photo or video (USB only), or radio station (AM/FM radio mode). Press and hold the corresponding button to rewind or fast-forward (USB only). Press and hold in Radio mode to enter the Seek Mode menu. Use the POWER/VOL knob to toggle between manual and auto seek modes. Press and hold PREVIOUS or NEXT button to toggle between AUTO and MANUAL seek mode. IN AUTO mode, press either button to auto seek to the next or previous available station. In MANUAL mode, press and either button to go forward or backward through the stations in increments of 00.20.
  2. APS/PLAY/PAUSE: In USB and BT mode press once to play current track; press again to pause. In BT mode, press and hold to disconnect the currently paired device. In Radio mode press and hold to automatically save AM/FM stations to the presets. Short press to enter Preview Search mode.
  3. LCD screen
  4. MODE: In any mode, press to reach the main menu. Turn the POWER/VOL knob left or right to toggle through the menu items: BT, USB, RADIO, AUX and Settings (gear icon). Press the POWER/VOL knob to select the desired menu item. While in the main menu, pressing the MODE button will return you to the previously selected mode. Please note, in certain Settings menus, pressing the MODE button will take you back to previous menus. In USB mode, press and hold to enter random and/or repeat mode.
  5. BAND: In Radio mode, press to switch between AM (2) and FM (3) bands. Hold to save a station to a specific preset slot (see page 8). When in USB mode, press to go through different files types like photo, video, and music.
  6. POWER, VOL-/+: Press or press and hold to turn the unit on. Press the power button while the unit is on to confirm selections. Press and hold for 1 second to turn the unit off. Turn left to decrease or right to increase the volume or go through menu selections.

Remote:

  1. PREVIOUS/NEXT Track: Press to select the previous track or next track (BT/USB only) or radio station (AM/FM radio mode). Press and hold to rewind or fast forward (USB only). Press and hold either in Radio mode to access the seek mode menu. Press and hold either again to toggle between AUTO and MANUAL seek mode. IN AUTO mode, press either button to auto seek to the next or previous available station. In MANUAL mode, press and either button to go forward or backward through the stations in increments of 00.20.
  2. PLAY/PAUSE, MODE: Press the button to pause of resume playback in BT & USB modes and mute playback in AUX & RADIO modes. Press and hold the mode button to reach the desired mode setting (BT/USB/RADIO/AUX).
  3. ZONE Selection Buttons: Press the buttons to access the corresponding zone volume. Turn the knob to adjust the desired level.
  4. Press or press and hold to turn the unit on. Turn left to decrease or right to increase the master volume. Press the button to access sub volume, turn the knob to adjust the volume. Press and hold for 1 second to turn the unit off.

Operation

Wireless Streaming:

Pairing

  1. Press the MODE button to enter the main menu. Turn the POWER/VOL button left or right until you reach BT Music. Press the POWER/VOL button to make your selection. Alternatively, you can repeatedly press and hold the MODE button on the remote control until the BT music screen appears. The unit will automatically enter pairing mode and on the LCD screen you will see the message “No Device Connected.”
  2. Ensure your device is in Bluetooth mode and discoverable.
  3. Under list of available devices, search for and select RGHR48A.
  4. Upon successful pairing, track information will appear and the BT icon in the top right hand corner of the LCD screen will be illuminated.
  5. When the unit is powered off and then back on, it will remember the last paired device and will connect or attempt to connect to that device. To disconnect the current device or one that was previously paired, press and hold the APS/PLAY/PAUSE button until the “No Device Connected” message appears on screen and the BT icon in the top right corner is not illuminated. This is especially helpful when disconnecting an unknown wireless streaming device.

Playback

  1. Press the APS/PLAY/PAUSE buttons on the unit or the remote to start or stop music playback.
  2. Press the PREVIOUS/NEXT buttons on the unit or the remote to navigate through tracks.
  3. Turn the POWER/VOL knob on the unit or on the remote and the unit will enter the volume control screen where you will be able to adjust the volume. Press the MODE button to return to the BT screen.

USB:

  1. Press the APS/PLAY/PAUSE button on the receiver to start and stop music playback, video playback, or the photo slide show.
  2. Press and hold the MODE button on the receiver to toggle through random, repeat current track, and repeat off.
  3. Press the PREVIOUS/NEXT buttons to navigate through music tracks, videos, or photos. Press and hold the PREVIOUS/NEXT buttons to rewind or fast forward music and videos. Keep pressing and holding to increase the rewind or fast forward speed (x2, x4, x8, x16). Press PLAY to resume playback.
  4. Turn the POWER/VOL knob on the unit or on the remote and the unit will enter the volume control screen. To adjust any of the volume settings, turn the knob until you reach the desired setting. Press the knob (receiver) to select the setting and turn it to make any adjustments. Press the MODE button to return to the USB screen or wait a few seconds and the unit will automatically exit the volume menu. Press the POWER/VOL knob (receiver) to enter the USB folders menu. The first screen will be the folder for the current USB selection. So, for example, if you are listening to music, pressing the POWER/VOL knob will take you to the enclosing folder for that song or album. Pressing the BAND button will exit that folder and take you to the PHOTO folder, press again to go to the VIDEO folder, and again to return to the MUSIC folder. Basically, press the BAND button to cycle through the folders. To select a folder and view its contents, press the POWER/VOL knob. Once inside the folder, turn the knob to find the desired file or sub folder and press the knob to select it.
  5. Press the BAND button at any time to quickly switch between music, photos, and videos.

AM/FM Radio:

Scan

Press and hold the APS button to automatically program stations while in FM or AM respectively. The unit will scan through all frequencies and save available stations to the presets. Press the APS button and the unit will go into a Preview Scan mode (PS on the LCD display) which will play 5 seconds of each preset station. Press the APS/PLAY/PAUSE button to stop preview mode. Use the PREVIOUS/NEXT buttons to scroll forward or backwards through the preset stations.

Manual Tuning

Press and hold the PREVIOUS or NEXT button for 1 second to bring up the Seek Mode menu. Use the POWER/VOL knob to toggle between Auto Seek and Manual Seek. The default setting will be Auto Seek. In Auto Seek mode press either the PREVIOUS or NEXT button and the unit will seek out the previous or next station with the strongest signal. In Manual Seek mode, press the PREVIOUS or NEXT buttons to move up through the stations in increments of 00.20. So, for example, if you are at 97.10, pressing the NEXT button will bring you to 97.30, press it again and you will be at 97.50, etc. The same applies if using the PREVIOUS button.

Presets

Press the POWER/VOL knob on the receiver to access your presets. Use the POWER/VOL knob to cycle through the presets, then press it to choose the desired station. To save manually tuned stations to the presets, navigate to the desired station using the manual tuning procedure detailed in the MANUAL TUNING section. Once you’ve reached the station, press and hold the BAND button to access the preset slots screen. Use the POWER/VOL knob to cycle through the preset slots. Once you’ve reached the desired slot, press POWER/VOL knob to save your selection.

If the unit is receiving a stereo signal from the current station, you will see two interlocking rings at the top left corner of the LCD screen. If these ring are not present, the unit is receiving a mono signal.

AUX/AV:

L/R RCA AUX In (White Cable)

Use these inputs to connect external audio input sources such as iPhones, iPads, iPods, MP3 players, Android phones and tablets, DVD or CD players, TV’s, satellite radio audio, or any other external sources. Please note, some devices may require a male 3.5mm to Male RCA L/R adapter cable (not included).

Video Aux In (Yellow Cable w/Yellow RCA Jack) & Camera In (Yellow Cable w/Brown RCA Jack)

Use the yellow input to connect an external video input source when in AUX mode. Use the brown input to connect a live video source such as a rearview camera. Connect the camera’s male RCA output jack to the brown female RCA video input jack. Connect the unit’s Reverse Camera Trigger Input wire (RCTI, purple/white) to any source that provides +12V power when the vessel is in reverse. For example, if your vessel’s shifter has any electronic features, like a gear indicator, it would receive power through dedicated wires connected to the boat’s electrical system. These would be the cables you would connect the RCTI wire to. Now, when the vessel is put into reverse and the RCTI wire senses +12V input, it will display video from the reverse camera on the unit’s LCD screen. Please note, if the RCTI wire is not connected, you will not see any video on the unit’s screen.

Subwoofer Out (Green Cable)

Use this output to send an audio signal to a subwoofer. Please note, the sub has a dedicated volume control accessible through the unit’s volume control menu as well as an LPF control accessible through the Audio section of the Settings menu.

Speaker Zones

Zone 1 (Brown Cable), Zone 2 (Grey Cable), and Zone 3 (Black Cable) L/R RCA Outputs:

This marine receiver has 3 full range speaker pre-output zones, each with independent volume control. These outputs are used to send a full range signal to up to 6 additional channels (2 channels per zone) using one or more external amplifiers. You can use the zones individually or all at once. To adjust each zones volume, turn the POWER/VOL knob to enter the volume adjustment screen. Press the POWER/VOL knob to toggle, left to right, through the volume options: MAIN, ZONE 1, ZONE 2, ZONE 3, and SUBWOOFER. The currently selected volume slider will be highlighted green. Turn the POWER/VOL knob left or right to adjust the volume setting. When done, press the POWER/VOL knob to toggle to the next selection or any button to return to the current input source. You can rename the zones within the app.

Settings

  1. In any mode, press the MODE button to return to the Sources menu screen.
  2. Turn the POWER/VOL knob until you reach Settings (gear icon). Press the knob to enter the Settings menu.
  3. Turn the POWER/VOL knob to cycle through the settings options: Language, Audio, Radio Area, Display, Clock, LED Light, Wallpaper, Factory Restore, and About.
  4. The currently selected option will be highlighted green. Press the POWER/VOL knob to enter the selection’s settings menu, the turn the knob to make any adjustments. Press MODE to return to the Sources menu screen. For selections with multiple options, turn the POWER/VOL knob to cycle through the options. When the desired option is highlighted green, press the knob to select it, turn the knob to make adjustments, and then press MODE to exit.

Settings Options:

Language

Set the system language.

Audio → Make fine adjustments to the system sound settings, select one of the preset EQs, and set the subwoofer LPF cut off. You can also turn on/off the beep and loudness options. Turning on the loudness option boosts low and high frequencies (bass and treble) when listening at low volume levels, essentially making the sound seem fuller and richer by compensating for the way human hearing perceives sound at quieter levels.

Radio Area → Set the radio area.

Display → Adjust the display brightness.

Clock → Set the time and change the clock format (12H or 24H).

LED Light → Set the LED effect color. Auto cycles through all the colors.

Wallpaper → Set the LCD screen backdrop

Factory Restore → Reset the unit to original factory settings.

About → Provides the system MCU SW and the MPEG SW versions.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Solution

No power

  • Check power connections: Yellow wire goes to the house battery; Black wire must be grounded securely. The Red wire goes to the vessel’s ignition.

Poor or no radio reception

  • Make sure antenna cables are properly connected.

Bluetooth pairing fails

  • Check to see that both devices are turned on and that your Bluetooth device is discoverable.
  • Turn both devices off and then on again.
  • Make sure you've selected the proper source.
  • Make sure that the Bluetooth device is within 5 feet of the unit.
  • Move both devices away from other Bluetooth devices and/or other electronics.
  • Make sure that the unit is not paired to a previously paired device. If an unknown device is already connected, hold the PLAY/PAUSE button to disconnect it.
Files on USB memory device will not play back
  • Make sure you've selected the proper source.
  • Make sure that the audio files are properly formatted.
  • Make sure that the USB drive is properly plugged in.
  • Check USB drive for damage.
  • Make sure the USB drive’s capacity does not exceed the 16GB limit.

No sound

  • Check the unit’s volume settings as well as those of any external sound source.
  • Double check all connections and reattach if necessary.
  • Check and adjust zone settings if necessary.
