PIXEL HYBRID BAR: How To Set Up w/ A DMX Controller

Introduction

The Rockville Pixel Hybrid Bar features wireless and wired DMX connectivity, allowing you to control your light remotely. This guide will walk you through connecting your DMX controller to the light using both wireless and wired methods, setting up DMX addresses and channels, and configuring different lighting effects.

Wireless DMX Setup

The Pixel Hybrid Bar can connect to a wireless DMX controller, eliminating the need for cables.

Step 1: Pair the Light with the DMX Controller

1. Locate the Wireless DMX Group Button
   • On the top of the light, find the Wireless DMX Group button.
   • The same button is present on your DMX controller.
2. Select a Wireless DMX Group
   • Press the Wireless DMX Group button to cycle through the color-coded groups:
     • Red, Green, Yellow, Blue, Purple, Cyan, or White.
   • Choose the same color for your light and controller.
   • The light should flash green and the controller should flash red, indicating a successful connection.

Step 2: Set the DMX Address

1. Press the Menu button on the light until you see A001.
2. Use the Up/Down buttons to adjust the DMX address.
3. Press Enter to save.

Step 3: Choose the DMX Channel Mode

The DMX channel mode determines how much control you have over the light.

1. Press Menu until you see DMX Channel Mode.
2. Use Up/Down to select one of the three modes:
   • 5-channel mode – Basic control.
   • 14-channel mode – Intermediate control.
   • 75-channel mode – Advanced control.
3. Press Enter to save.

1. Plug the male end of the DMX cable into the DMX Out on the controller.
2. Plug the other end into the DMX In on the Pixel Hybrid Bar.

Step 2: Configure DMX Address & Channel Mode

• Set the DMX address and DMX channel mode as outlined above.

Step 3: Daisy-Chaining Multiple Lights

To connect additional lights, use extra DMX cables:

1. Connect a second cable from the DMX Out of the first light to the DMX In of the next light.
2. Repeat for additional lights.
3. Set all lights to the same DMX address and channel mode.

Troubleshooting

Issue: Wireless DMX Not Working

Ensure both the light and controller are set to the same DMX group.

Go to Menu → 2.4 GHz Mode and turn it ON.

Issue: Remote Control Not Working

Go to Menu → IRCL Mode and turn it ON.

Issue: No Light Output

Check that Fader 1 (Master Dimmer) is raised.

Ensure your DMX controller is set to Scanner 1.
