Introduction
The Master-Slave function allows you to control multiple Pixel Hybrid Bars without using a DMX controller. This is a great option if you want synchronized lighting effects across multiple units but prefer a simpler setup.
This guide will walk you through two ways to set up the Master-Slave function:
- Wireless Master-Slave Setup (Using Wireless DMX Groups)
- Wired Master-Slave Setup (Using DMX Cables)
Method 1: Wireless Master-Slave Setup
This method uses the wireless DMX grouping feature to link the lights together.
Step 1: Choose a Master Light
- Identify the main light (Master) that will control the others.
- The remaining lights will act as Slave units.
Step 2: Assign Wireless DMX Groups
- Each Pixel Hybrid Bar has a Wireless DMX Group button.
- Press this button to cycle through color-coded groups:
- Red, Green, Yellow, Blue, Purple, Cyan, White
- Select the same group for all lights.
Example:
- If the Master light is set to Blue, set all Slave lights to Blue.
Step 3: Set the Master Light to a Mode
- By default, all lights start in DMX Address Mode (A001).
- On the Master light, select a mode (e.g., Auto Mode).
- You should see:
- Master Light → Flashing Red
- Slave Light(s) → Flashing Green
- The Slave lights will now follow the Master.
Step 4: Use the Remote for Additional Control
- You can adjust the Master light using the included remote.
- The Slave lights will mirror any changes made to the Master.
Important Additional Step: Disable IRCL on Slave Lights
To prevent the remote from accidentally affecting Slave lights, disable IRCL:
- On each Slave light, press Menu until you reach IRCL Mode.
- Press Enter, then use the Up/Down buttons to set it to Off.
- Press Enter again to save.
Now, when you use the remote, only the Master light will respond while the Slaves follow its changes.
Method 2: Wired Master-Slave Setup
If you prefer a wired connection, you can use DMX cables instead of the wireless grouping feature.
Step 1: Connect the DMX Cables
- Take a DMX cable and plug the Male end into the DMX Out of the Master light.
- Plug the other end into the DMX In of the first Slave light.
- Repeat this for additional lights, connecting DMX Out of each Slave to DMX In of the next.
Step 2: Set the Master Light Mode
- On the Master light, select Auto Mode or any effect mode.
- The Slave lights will now follow the Master without needing wireless DMX groups.
Troubleshooting
Issue: Slave Lights Not Syncing with Master
Ensure all Slave lights are set to the same Wireless DMX Group as the Master. If using DMX cables, check that each connection is secure.
Issue: Remote Affects Slave Lights Instead of Just the Master
Disable IRCL on all Slave lights as described in Step 4.
Issue: Slave Lights Not Responding
Ensure Slave lights are not in DMX Address Mode (A001).Try resetting the Wireless DMX Group and reconnecting.
Conclusion
The Master-Slave function offers a quick and easy way to synchronize multiple Pixel Hybrid Bars without needing a full DMX controller. Whether you use the wireless or wired method, this feature is perfect for creating professional lighting effects with minimal setup.
