FLIP PAR: How To Set Up Smartphone App

Introduction

This guide explains how to control your Rockville Flip Par lights using the Rockville Par-Control App on your smartphone or tablet. It follows the process shown in the video and is broken into simple, clear steps, even if you have no lighting or technical experience. All you need is an Android or Apple iOS device with the Rockville Par-Control App installed. No extra hardware or complicated setup required. You'll learn how to download, open and use the Par-Control app; assigning your lights to app groups, and using the app for full control of your Flip Par light(s). You'll also see how to link multiple lights using Master/Slave mode, and connect your phone to the lights over WiFi so you can control multiple groups of lights either independently or all together at once.

Setup Guide

A.) App Download & Installation

1. On your phone or tablet:
   • Apple iOS Device → Par-Control App from Apple App Store
   • Android Device → Par-Control App from Google Play Store
2. Download and install the app.

B.) Preparing the Lights for App Control
⚠️Be sure to check Network Settings periodically, as Rockville-UID WiFi may need to be reconnected.

1. Set all lights to the same Wireless DMX Code.
   • Press the Menu button until you see 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07 or oFF with the corresponding Wireless Group ID color. 
     
   • Use the Up or Down button to set all lights to the same Wireless Group ID # / color.
     
2. On the first (main/master) light only, set Master Mode to ON.
   • Press the Menu button until you see MASTER on or MASTER oFF.
     
   • If you see MASTER oFF, use the Up or Down button to select MASTER on.
     
3. On all additional (slave) lights, set Master Mode to OFF.
   • Press the Menu button until you see MASTER on or MASTER oFF.
     
   • If you see MASTER on, use the Up or Down button to select MASTER oFF.
     
4. Confirm sync:
   • Set the Master to any static color, color-changing or sound-active mode. All Slave lights should respond. 
   • On Slave lights, the group ID icon flashes.
   • On the Master light, the group ID icon is solid.
     
   • If the lights do not sync immediately; Turn all lights off, then turn them back on.

C.) Selecting App Group & Connecting Device

1. On the Master light only: 
   • Press the Menu button until you see AP1, AP2, AP3 or AP4.
     
   • Press Enter to see the 3-Digit UID (Unique Identification Number).
      
     ⚠️The UID on your light will likely be different.
2. On a smartphone or tablet you should be able to find and connect to a WiFi network labeled Rockville-UID. This enables control using the Rockville Par-Control App.
   • For the example above, the WiFi network would appear on your smartphone or tablet as shown below.
      
   • Connecting to this network enables control using the Rockville Par-Control App.
   • If prompted, select Always Connect.
     
3. Press Enter on the Master light again to stay in App Group mode...
   1. Or press the Menu button until you see AP1, AP2, AP3 or AP4.
      
   2. Use the Up / Down buttons on each Flip Par to assign all lights to the same APP Group.
      
4. Set only Slave lights to DMX Address or Slave Mode.
   • Press the Menu button until you see DMX ADD. 001 ~ DMX ADD. 512.
     
   • If necessary, use the UP / DOWN buttons to set the address to 001.
     
5. Before using your mobile device to control the lights, confirm the Master is still set to App Group mode.

D.) Getting Started with the App

• On your smartphone or tablet, open the Rockville Par-Control App. 
  (Device must still be connected to Rockville-UID WiFi network)
• Note the four buttons toward the bottom of the screen labeled; 1, 2, 3 and 4.
  
• These correspond to the Flip Par's four App Groups.
• Select the App Group that corresponds to the light(s) you wish to control.

E.) Using the Par-Control App

• Color Tab:
  
   
  • Standard Color Buttons: Quickly change light to predefined colors.
    
     
  • Color Wheel: Select custom colors.
    
     
  • Brightness Slider: Adjust brightness level.
    
     
  • Custom Color Buttons: Save up to 6 customized colors for easy recall.
    
    Please Note: Holding down a Custom Color button will erase the saved color and allow for a new color to be saved in its place.

• Auto Mode Tab:
  
   

  • Choose from preset effects such as:
    
     
  • Adjust effect speed and brightness with sliders.
    

   

• Sound Tab:
  
   
  • Four different sound-activated modes.
    
     

  • Adjust sound sensitivity and brightness of LEDs.
    Lights will react to ambient noise or music.
    

     

• Settings Tab:
  • Language: Select from available languages for app viewing.
  • Clear Cache: Erases all saved app settings (e.g. custom colors).
  • Check Update: Checks to ensure you have the most current version of the Par-Control App.

E.) Using Different App Groups

1. Set all lights within the group to the same Wireless DMX Code.
   • Press the Menu button until you see 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07 or oFF with the corresponding Wireless Group ID color. 
     
   • Use the Up or Down button to set all lights to the same Wireless Group ID # / color.
     
2. On the first (main/master) light only, set Master Mode to ON.
   • Press the Menu button until you see MASTER on or MASTER oFF.
     
   • If you see MASTER oFF, use the Up or Down button to select MASTER on.
     
3. On all additional (slave) lights, set Master Mode to OFF.
   • Press the Menu button until you see MASTER on or MASTER oFF.
     
   • If you see MASTER on, use the Up or Down button select MASTER oFF.
     

1. Confirm your Master light is still set to App Group mode:
   • Press the Menu button until you see AP1, AP2, AP3 or AP4.
     
   • The previously selected App Group should be displayed. If not, use the Up / Down buttons to select.
     
2. Set desired Slave light(s) to one of the four APP Groups not previously used.
   • Press the Menu button until you see AP1, AP2, AP3 or AP4.
     
   • Use the Up / Down buttons to select.
     
3. Set only Slave lights to DMX Address or Slave Mode.
   • Press the Menu button until you see DMX ADD. 001 ~ DMX ADD. 512.
     
   • If necessary, use the UP / DOWN buttons to set the address to 001.
     
4. On your smartphone of tablet (must still be connected to Rockville-UID WiFi network), open the Rockville Par-Control App.
   • Select the App Group that corresponds to the light(s) you wish to control.
     
      
   • Multiple groups can be selected and controlled together.
5. Repeat this process (as needed) for up to four separate app groups.

Recap

1. Pick one light to be your Master (or main controller light) – all others will be Slaves (following Master light).
2. Set the Master light to "App Group Mode" and press Enter to get your UID (or WiFi code).
3. Put all lights in "App Group Mode" and pick a group number for each.
4. Switch Slave lights to "DMX Address Mode", but keep the Master in "App Group Mode".
5. Connect your smartphone or tablet using the WiFi code from Step 2.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

My phone won't stay connected to the light’s WiFi. What should I do?
✅Recheck the WiFi settings and reconnect to the correct Rockville network.
✅If the light disconnects after cycling modes, simply reconnect.

Why aren’t all lights responding to the app?
✅Ensure only main / master light has Master Mode set to on.
✅Ensure all additional / slave lights have Master Mode set to off.
✅Ensure all lights are assigned to the correct APP Group.
✅Ensure all additional / slave lights have DMX Address set to 001.

Can I control all lights at once?
✅Yes. 
✅Tap all four groups in the app to apply the same color or effect across all lights.
