The process is straightforward and suitable for users of all technical levels.
Requirements:
- Rockville TITAN MIX12A System (Subwoofer, Speaker Array Columns, AC PowerCon Cable)
- Bluetooth Device (for wireless audio connection)
- Microphone and/or Instruments (for live performance)
- Audio Mixer (optional for expanded control)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
A.) Unboxing the TITAN MIX12A
Open the packaging and take out the following items:
- 12" Amplified Subwoofer
- Lower 4-Speaker Array Column
- Upper 8-Speaker Array Column
- 8-Foot PowerCon Cable
- Carrying Bag for Easy Transport
- Cover for the Subwoofer
B.) Attaching the Speaker Array Columns
Lower 4-Speaker Array Column: The lower column has a connector at the bottom and a port at the top.
Upper 8-Speaker Array Column: The upper column only has a connector at the bottom.
- Connect the lower column to the top of the subwoofer by aligning the connector to the port on the sub.
- Then, attach the array by connecting the bottom of the array to the top of the lower column.
C.) Connecting Power
- Take the blue end of the PowerCon cable and plug it into the power port on the back of the subwoofer.
- Twist to secure the cable in place.
- Plug the other end of the PowerCon cable into a power source.
D.) Setting Up for Portability
Once you’re done setting up, you can break it down by reversing the setup steps:
- Detach the array by pulling it up.
- Remove the lower column and place it in the carry bag.
- The carry bag can hold the lower column and array on either side. Zip the bag closed and use the handle or shoulder strap for easy carrying.
- Place the subwoofer cover over the subwoofer and use the handle cover to make it easier to lift.
E.) Exploring the Mixer Controls
The TITAN MIX12A features a built-in mixer with channels and EQ settings:
- Channels 1-4: Each channel has a 3-band EQ and volume knob to control the sound. You can adjust the highs, mids, and lows for each instrument or mic connected.
- Channels 5-6: These channels also have a 3-band EQ, with the option to input a left and right (balanced or unbalanced) signal via quarter-inch (TRS) Line Inputs (i.e. from mixer, keyboard or DJ controller), or push the Bluetooth/TWS button for wireless audio streaming.
- Channels 7-8: These channels are for connecting external devices like laptops or DJ controllers via RCA or 1/8" (3.5mm) inputs.
F.) Connecting a Bluetooth Device
- Press the Bluetooth/TWS button on channels 5 or 6 to activate Bluetooth mode. The Bluetooth indicator light will flash to show the system is looking for a device to pair with.
- On your smartphone or tablet, go to Bluetooth settings, find "TITAN MIX12A," and pair.
- Once connected, the Bluetooth light will become solid.
G.) Setting Up for Live Performances
- Microphone: To connect a microphone, plug an XLR cable into any available input on the back of the subwoofer. For example, plug it into Channel 1.
- Press the button above the input to switch to mic/instrument mode.
- Adjust the volume and EQ to suit your performance.
- Instrument (Guitar or Bass): Plug your instrument’s quarter-inch cable into any available input. Select guitar mode by pressing the switch above the input.
H.) Adding Effects
- Use the DSP knob to select an effect such as reverb or chorus.
- Adjust the Reverb knobs to control how much effect is added to each channel.
- You can use the Master Volume and Sub-Level knobs to control the overall system volume and the subwoofer’s output.
I.) Expanding the Setup
- If you have additional TITAN MIX12A systems, you can connect them via True Wireless Stereo (TWS):
- Press the Bluetooth button on both speakers to enter Bluetooth mode.
- On one speaker, press and hold the TWS button to pair the two speakers.
- Once paired, you can control both speakers from a single device.
J.) Using a Mixer (Optional)
- To connect a mixer, use quarter-inch cables or XLR cables to link the mixer’s output to the inputs on the TITAN MIX12A system.
- Adjust the faders on the mixer to control the audio output.
- Make sure the speaker channels are set to line mode for optimal performance with a mixer.
Troubleshooting:
Q: My Bluetooth device isn’t connecting.
- Ensure that the Bluetooth light is flashing and the device is in pairing mode.
- Restart the Bluetooth process if needed.
Q: The volume is too low despite turning up the knobs.
- Check the subwoofer level and master volume to ensure they are turned up.
- Make sure each channel’s volume is also set appropriately.
Q: The mic or instrument is not coming through.
- Double-check that the correct mode (mic/instrument mode) is selected for the relevant channel.
Q: The PowerCon cable doesn’t seem to connect properly.
- Ensure the grooves on the cable align properly with the grooves inside the PowerCon port.
- Once aligned, twist the cable to the right until it clicks into place.
Conclusion:
Now you are ready to use your Rockville TITAN MIX12A system for live performances, events, or audio playback. With easy setup and advanced features like Bluetooth, TWS, and customizable EQ settings, it’s perfect for any occasion.
